Itsuka Dekirukara Kyou Dekiru Impression

Hello, welcome to another post where i give my impression on a single that released recently. this time it is going to be Nogizaka46's 19th single "Itsuka Dekirukara Kyou Dekiru", the single that's released alongside the movie "Asahinagu". now, i have my expectation very low for this single, for 2 reasons. one, its feel very rushed from the previous single, and rushed thing usually doesn't turn out that great. and two, its a single that's made for a movie, and usually when a song is made specifically for a movie, its not going to be very good. but hey, i've been proven wrong before. and i would say this, the cover turns out to be very good, i like that they're going back to wearing the seifuku, which is nice to see, although some of them is a bit too old for it. anyway let us go through all of the songs.

Itsuka Dekirukara Kyou Dekiru (Senbatsu)
The main song of the single, and the one that's use in the movie. overall its not a bad song, i like the chorus, i always like how they layer the vocal on top of another, it sounds very good in my opinion. the solo line in the verse is also very nice, although the order of the singing is a bit confusing. and the piano is nice, very Nogizaka like. the MV is.......well......i can't really say that i like it. this MV is exactly why i don't like when something is made for a movie. the whole MV is basically just a dance scene plus some bits from the Asahinagu movie, and although it doesn't look that bad, it just not as good as something that is made for itself, if you know what i mean. this is certainly the weakest A-side song that Nogizaka put out this year.

Fuminsho (Senbatsu)
probably my least favorite song from this single, i don't know, it just doesn't sound right to me, its a bit messy, especially in the pre-chorus part. but its not all that bad, i kinda like the chorus, and also the acoustic guitar sound, but overall its just not that great. and the fact that it doesn't have an MV, just added to the problem.

Maa Ii Ka? (Akimoto Manatsu X Shiraishi Mai)
at first i have a feeling that this song is similar to NGT48's Seishun Dokei, but after listening to it more, this song is actually completely different from Seishun Dokei. its a reggae/ska style song, which is new for Nogizaka. i like that it is very simple and also extremely catchy. the lyrics if you look at it is actually very funny, its basically just a fight between 2 best friend, very cute. the MV is probably my favorite, its very bright and colorful. i like the concept, the competition that they do is very fun to watch. and i love how they shot it, basically they put a camera on a single stationary spot, shot the scene multiple times on different spot on the set, and then merge those shot together, and voila, you get multiple Shiraishi Mai and multiple Akimoto Manatsu. its one of the simplest way to create a good and creative video, and that's why i like it so much.

Shitsuren wo Shojo Hito (Wakasama Gundan)
the first song of the newly form Wakasama Gundan, which consist of Wakatsuki Yumi (Chopstick), Yamashita Mizuki (Spoon), Sakaguchi Tamami (Fork) and Umezawa Minami (Knife). i know, its very weird, but anyway this song has a very rock feel to it, which i like very much, especially the guitar part. for the vocal, well i would say this, they need some more practice, because it does sound a bit weak, but not too bad, its not Akimoto Manatsu or Matsumura Sayuri level bad. the MV is again, very good and very well thought out. it is basically a comedy detective story, with Wakatsuki as the leader senior detective, Yamashita as the rookie, and Sakaguchi and Umezawa as yamashita's senior. its really funny and you guys should watch it.

Boku no Shoudo (3rd Generation)
the 3rd gen is really getting the push aren't they. i think in terms of quality, this song should have been the main single. its a bit darker from the previous 3rd gen song, but its still really good and extremely catchy. but really, this song is all about the MV, and the message that it give. so the story is set in the very distant future, probably after some alien invasion of something. and in this future, the Nogizaka station is considered as a shrine and Nogizaka46 is like some sort of god or something, and the songs and dance is a kind of ritual by the local (the 3rd gen). long story short, the locals (the 3rd gen) decided to do one of the ritual (dance) that required 12 people to do (because the 3rd gen has 12 members), which in turns awaken this massive creature which i can only describe as a mix of Megatron and Uchiha Sasuke's Susano'o, which teleported the 3rd gen to a "better place". you need to watch it for yourself if you want to understand. and this MV has a very strong message, it basically says that the 3rd gen is ready to fight alongside and take over from their senior. also this MV is really well shot, and i can see that they put a lot of effort into it. again as i say, this song feels like an A-side.

My Rule (Undergirls)
the song of the Under member, this time its Higuchi Hina as the center, and it suits her image very much. its a very adult and mature song, also its a minor key song, which added to that maturity. i like the piano and electric guitar combo, it sounds really good to the ear. the MV, well it is beautifully shot, visually its good, and the members look good, but its lacking a story, its basically just a dance MV, which is not bad by any mean, but because the other MV's has a great story, this one is just left behind somehow. but i do have one question about this MV, its about the size of Hinachima's...........ummm..........yea......you know what i mean, is it really like that, or is it just because of the dress???

Atarashii Kafun ~ Musical "Mishiranu Sekai" Yori (Ikuta Erika X Kubo Shiori)
well, it has Ikuchan in the vocal, so there's no question on the quality of the vocal, and Kubo Shiori's vocal is not bad as well. the song itself is a mix of "Naimononedari" in the verse and that one song from their documentary in the chorus, which may sound weird, but its actually really good. again, no MV, so that's a bummer.

overall this single turns out to be a lot better than i was expecting, other than the A-side, all of the other song and MV is really well made (not that i say that the A-side is bad). and if i had to rank the song and the MV it would probably look like this

1. Maa Ii Ka? (Akimoto Manatsu X Shiraishi Mai)
2. Shitsuren wo Shojo Hito (Wakasama Gundan)
3. Boku no Shoudo (3rd Generation)
